For those of you who are new to Wed Me Good, the Bridal Files are a series I started on my beauty blog which tracks the wedding preparations of close members in the family. Owing to the crazy popularity of the series, i shall continue these here. We had previously left off, just before the wedding events began . These events relate to my sister in law Khushboo's wedding in Hyderabad !!!
  • Lyrics of Jhalla Wallah Hindi Song from Ishaqzaade. Jiska title titanic Oo aashiqon main. Mein kya gunaah hai.
  • Aashiqon mein jiska title titanic o aashiqon mein jiska title titanic muah kinara dikha kar ke dooba de gaya jhalla mera aashiq jhalla wallah mera balma jhalla wallah.
Catastrophe Strikes The bride did what???? Yes she did. She went to the parlour and got talked into applying something on her face which she had never done before (Cardinal rule of bridal skincare= NEVER apply something 2 days before your wedding that you have never done before). Result- the girl who had clear skin for majority of her life now had her entire cheek area covered in little red bumps.
See now, if that had happpened to me i would have been like 'WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. WHY DOES GOD HATE ME SO MUCH'. But clearly Im not as mature as my kid sister in law cos all she said was 'Uff so annoying to have this right before the wedding'. Like really? Thats it? THAT is how you freak out? Hmm..mental note- take 'how to keep calm lessons ' from SIL.
But moving on, at a wedding, everyone has a certain role right- the brothers do the logistics and the alcohol arrangements, the dads and the uncles do the venues and decor arrangement, the moms do the entertaining guests at home arrangements. My duty- since i am clearly adept at nothing except writing blogs about makeup and bridal , was to ensure the bride looks pretty! (Hey its a tough job and someones got to do it ..rolls eyes) I was doing her makeup for her smaller functions including the mehendi!
The mehendi was a small event at home. I dont really know what to say about it except that I had a lot of fun being on the other side. Those of you who read P&B remember right? My mehendi was a 6 hour torture so the fact that i could twirl about pretending to attent to guests while i was just doing random nonsense was perfect !!!
Outfits
The bride wore an attached floor length gown with a jewelled waist belt that looked like a lehenga but its actually not. This was a family affair too, this gown was made by a cousin in Mumbai, ill give her details below. She was for the most part surrounded by her friends so I didnt get a chance to guage her irritable meter. Btw does she not look like a complete kid?? Child marriage i tell you (ok not really, she is 25 but still) . We used our favourite Bobbi Brown Foundation along with Mac expensive pink eyeshadow and then we were sorted !. (Bobbi brown foundation=lifesaver foundation). We put all her hair to one side so that the cheek with the break out is semi hidden!

Can you spot me? I actually did the mistake of telling my own mom to bring my outfit for the mehendi, not realising that my own mom was reaching Hyderabad the day AFTER the mehendi, so I wore what i had worn on my interview with Ambika Anand

Dance Preparations

Prior to the Mehendi, were discussions about the song the bride should dance on. One of the classic dilemmas of Modern Indian Brides is - what in the world is an appropriate song to dance on? Something that is not ridiculously sappy like ' Saajan ke ghar jaana hai (eww)' and not an item number either. Thus began the shortlist. Sister in law #2 says Saibo, and a few other options. I say do 'Shala-la-la ho gaee re' from that movie with Saif and Deepika in which this girl dances in the village ya(Great bridal dance song by the way). I also suggest 'Aahiq Jhalla Valla' ..which if you remove the first para and start from 'Aashiqon ke mein jiska title titanic' you will know is a very nice song. That suggestion draws a semi 'hawww' moment from the round table. Arre how can our beti do this mujra song. That too, infront of a traditional Gujarati family. Okay fair enough, thats what my mom said when i wanted to dance on Anarkali disco chali on my wedding .
After these discussions, gorging on some yummy food, dancing on some customary songs, clicking some photos the mehendi wrapped up and we all returned semi exhuasted to our beds gearing up for the next morning which were the feras and then the same night we had the grand reception. (Yes- not only is the bride calm, she also has super energy to have 2 events in one day) .
Check this blog in some time to read about what happened in the morning feras. PS: Wedmegood founder 2 is giving me serious shit about putting all this 'personal blog' stuff onto our brand new baby.
Brides outfit is from a boutique in Mumbai (call Aditi at 9820660578)
My blue suit with slit is from GK 1 M Block Market- an underground shop which i cannot remember!
